Default Is there anyway to block a text message?

I get these types of messages almost daily and it seems there is nothing I can do except delete them. This has been going on for at least 6 weeks. AND they are always linked to a different phone number.

Unless there is something new, that government do not call list is about as helpful as a dead goat. Just keep blocking each number. You might try asking your cell provider if they have filters or ideas.

I used the gov do not call list and reported the numbers I was getting calls from and the calls stopped. If you report the numbers in addition to being placed on the list it helps.

Do not respond to a spam text, big no-no, all that does is confirm they've got a real number and they won't stop.

You can report a robotext to your mobile carrier by forwarding it to a specific number. To do this, copy or select the original message and text it to 7726 (which spells out SPAM). This works for AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, and Sprint, all of whom will use the information to try to block future spam messages.

You may then get a reply from your carrier asking you for the number the text came from.

Dave if this is a iPhone it is rather easy

At the very top of the message screen there should be a telephone number with a right facing arrow.
Tap the number. three choices (audio, FaceTime, & info) will appear.
Tap the "info"
A new screen titled "Details" will appear.
Tap the arrow next to the telephone number.
At the bottom of the next screen there is a choice titled "Block this Caller.
The next screen will ask you to confirm the block.
Tap "Block Contact"

That should do it!

This would probably usually work, but Dave said that the texts that he receives are almost always from a different phone number!

You just have to keep deleting them. I do it all of the time and after awhile they go away.
