Is there going to be a new S2000
You make a great point, Dave.
Still, a two seat drop-top with decent performance would do wonders for Honda's DNA and would signal a return to driver-oriented cars throughout the lineup, cars that are engineered, not merely styled. Only the Fit has done that over the last decade, although some of the Si Civics have been interesting. Seems like Honda engineering figured out hybrids and said "Job done!" (Although frankly the best hybrid they ever made was the original Insight.)

Regarding the initial question: Personally, I would say no because it won't be an S2000. And even if they do introduce a convertible sportscar with comparable capabilities to an S2000, it won't be for another 10 years. My Magic 8 Ball told me so. And the results were corroborated by my crystal ball.

The S2000 is done and finished. It was and still is a superb sports car. Now it's time for Honda to bring us the next great sports car.

Why do people always think newer is better? The S2000 was a clean sheet of paper winner. Since they didn't know enough to tweek it and keep it alive, I say let it die with pride.

Maybe, maybe not. Honda still has the engineering capability. The problem is their focus has shifted to safety and fuel economy from performance. If their focus shifts back I think you can expect to see another great sports car.

with Dave.
