You make a great point, Dave.
Still, a two seat drop-top with decent performance would do wonders for Honda's DNA and would signal a return to driver-oriented cars throughout the lineup, cars that are engineered, not merely styled. Only the Fit has done that over the last decade, although some of the Si Civics have been interesting. Seems like Honda engineering figured out hybrids and said "Job done!" (Although frankly the best hybrid they ever made was the original Insight.)

Maybe for model year 2020
Levi
My, you are the optimistic one.

Regarding the initial question: Personally, I would say no because it won't be an S2000. And even if they do introduce a convertible sportscar with comparable capabilities to an S2000, it won't be for another 10 years. My Magic 8 Ball told me so. And the results were corroborated by my crystal ball.
I was thinking the S2000 was 1st made for 2000 when Honda turned 50. In 2020 they'll be 70, or maybe they'll wait till 2025 when they are 75.

I think you're taking the name too literally. It doesn't matter what the car is called, what I think everyone is looking for is for Honda to reach into it's bag of tricks and using its magical engineering, come out with another roadster the likes of the S2000. Not a reborn S2000, but another car, in a popular priced range, that will blow the market away.

The S2000 is done and finished. It was and still is a superb sports car. Now it's time for Honda to bring us the next great sports car.

Sorry but I think you are living in the past. Mr Honda is in the ground and with him is the magic and bag of tricks.

Maybe, maybe not. Honda still has the engineering capability. The problem is their focus has shifted to safety and fuel economy from performance. If their focus shifts back I think you can expect to see another great sports car.
