Default Think I'll Embarass Rick

Rick may be a member of the Free Radical Anti Oxident Party (or some such nonsense), but he is still an honorable business man and a heck of a nice guy. Check this thread.

I followed this guy's problems for a while and traded messages with him. It looked like he was screwed for hundreds of dollars as a result of another member's mistake. Rick made it right and it wasn't even his sale or his mistake. I take my hat off to you Rick.

Would you expect anything less from Rick?

I chuckle when I read some of those "other" threads. Knowing Rick and his associates the way that we do, it's impossible to take those threads seriously.

I've known Rick for a long time (back to Honda-Acura days) before he even had his car. I also had the pleasure of helping him out with FC02 in Fishkill NY and it was a real pleasure.

Now a history lesson for some.

Rick started out on Honda-Acura as a general memeber. One of the first 'improvements' for the S2000 from Rick was when he created stickers for the visors and offered them to everyone for the cost of a self addressed envelope. I think that most of us sent additional money (at least I hope they did) but he was willing to do it and eat the cost. For those that participated it was a great ride. The track was very large.

Rick then decided that the my2000 needed something for the console to cover the carpet. I was originally supposed to go to Townsend Leather with my car to have them fit it (James Mullins asked if he could go with me), well, I got stuck at work and James went. His first commercial product.

At FC 2002, we thought there was a site available for the Autocross, the Monday before the event, I received a call from Rick asking if I knew of alternate sites. Turns out there was a snafu and we lost the oriiginal site. I told Rick about a few and drove around looking for alternatives. Within a couple of days Rick had secured Stewart Airport. It cost alot and Rick was willing to eat the cost so that others would not be disappointed.

Rick's generousity did not stop there. On Friday I arrived at the hotel and found out that we had also lost the cones we needed for the autocross. Rick spent a good part of the afternoon on the phone looking for someplace that could supply over 100 cones. he found it and paid for them.

There were a few other gliches along the way and Rick did not flinch.

I should also mention that the support for Rick was great. One member who came to the hotel on Friday had heard about the problems we were having and immediately took out his wallet and gave us $100. At the dinner someone asked for help and many gave donations. After the event I managed to capture one of the two Fall Colors banners, Bass and I then held a raffle to help recoup some of the funds Rick laid out. Rick did not want us to do it, but we did anyway. The raffle was very well received. I think we raised $750!!! Despite all of this I know what the event cost and we only covered a fraction of the cost overrun and Rick has never complained.

Since that time Rick has been one of the nicest and most sincere members you will ever meet.

Rick, thanks for the friendship and I am glad to have crossed paths with you.

Now that's what I call a great PR move. The income from something like that is far reaching and far beyond dollars. Rick, believe stuff like that before believing that other crap. Your good name speaks for itself through gestures like that and I'm sure there are many others we never hear about.

Thanks Bill for "embarassing" him and for someone who wasn't going to post much anymore, you're doing a great job.

Yes...I agree. Nice to know more about FC02. I knew something about the autox mixup. As for FC03, I was there and those of us who were can vouch for how successful and well run it was, in large part due to Rick's efforts. There has been some trash talking lately in other forums - I hope it's over with.

Please also note that Stratocaster played a role in this refund.

to the best damn vendor on this forum, IMO.
(Special thanks to Jeff [stratocaster] for doing this. Great guy, great company). Oz
So, as someone else pointed out above, it's Rick and his associates that deserve our kudos.

Rick and Associates must be embarrassed All of them (2-3-4?) need to 'come onto the Vintage Stage' and take a or two

My personal Rick Trust story:
I volunteered to lay out the PA half of the FC '01 main drive, and Rick accepted my offer
Little did he know that I had never done this before but everything worked out very well
