Tiger crash
I agree- I don't think we'll see him playing competitively again. In some future time, perhaps some exhibitions, charity events, etc... At some point, taking the initial drive to kick off the Masters.
I'm sure the lawyers are buzzing, on all kinds of things and all kinds of angles. I thought the officer at the press conference did a good job deferring the investigation questions to that team for "later" and only giving 'definitive' answers of his interaction and observations from the scene.

The genesis still had the golf promotional emblems on the side doors, from what I read he hit a median going down hill at a high rate of speed. He must have careened and then swung across two lanes of on-coming roadway and down the embankment. . If anyone was coming in the opposing lanes they may have all been dead, good thing there was no traffic at that time of morning.
Sadly, I don't think we will ever see him on a golf course as a player again.
This is no Ben Hogan story. he has multiple compound open fractures in his leg, severe muscle damage and a crushed his foot and ankle.
I think if he walks on that leg without a cane it will be amazing.
I will still be suspect of the Genesis. Did he get cross wise with the drivers aids that were trying to "help" him.
If I were Tiger's lawyer I would be in court this morning protecting the data recorder i.e. black box in the car.
I have to believe there were several meetings yesterday with a crapload of lawyers for Genesis.

I hate most "drivers aids" in a car. Just today I was driving our Mazda CX-5 when the car in front of me (by a good 500 feet) slowed down to turn. The Mazda did a near complete panic stop about 100 feet behind the turning vehicle AFTER he had already turned and was off the road. Lucky there was no one behind be or there may have been an accident! I have completely turned that crap off. I was taught how to drive and just don't need it.

He was close to having his one leg amputated, but they have saved it for now. That is one serious injury, I can't see anyone coming back to sports level from that kind of injury, and his previous back injuries will likely be made much worse.
I am not a tech fan of Hyundai/Genesis. And to be honest i'm not a fan of active steering assist.
Call me a control freak. My more recent Mercs still squawk at me about impending danger.
When I know it is merely a traffic sign ahead of me but the road will swing to left before I get there.
Take that same miscalculation and give the control input to a the steering system\.
Come on engifineer, you took controls right?
Managing human factors is brutal. A little lapse of attention, a bad sensor decision about impending doom, the system pushes it out, he fights to recover.
and buh bye.

Not sure if it's exactly the same feature but we immediately turned of the lane assist on my Jeep. It really changed the feel of the handling of the car. We have sensors, so far those are on, and I do like the little arrows in the side view mirrors for the blind spots. Rick tried the adaptive cruise control today. So far he has a positive opinion of it.
