today's new word
are you talking to me?
which kind of servo?
most are typically electromechanical positioners.
An audio company many mooons ago had a speaker system called The Infinity Reference Standard.
The subwoofers had a servo sense feedback loop for maintaining absolute accuracy in the sound.

If you still have a computer with a hard drive (rather than a solid state drive) I think a servo positions the read-write head over the appropriate track on the spinning disk. I normally think of servos as operating laterally but wondhund's definition is probably more accurate and definitive.
Today's word is "definition." Please define it definitively.

Def says short for servomechanism or servomotor.
A servo (servomechanism) is an electromagnetic device that converts electricity into precise controlled motion by use of negative feedback mechanisms. Servos can be used to generate linear or circular motion, depending on their type.
