Tom Finucane
Sorry to hear Tom is selling his S. I know how happy he was to buy it back after he had sold his second one.
Please give him our regards. I hope Susan is faring well with all this. It can't be easy on either one of them.
I'll put a post over in NE about the sale of the car, with a link to this thread.

Sorry to see how long it is taking Tom to recover. It must be very frustrating. I would invite Tom to visit this site rather than wait around for cards to arrive. He could read this thread, respond to all of us, and even look at other threads. I think that would give him a lot more to do while he is recovering from his surgery. Unless of course his surgery prevents him form using a laptop, tablet or smart phone.

Tom, if you are reading this,
Thx Lainey. Tom's brother Jim will be in touch with me today or tomorrow on details after talking with Tom re: price and details. It still will be a problem to post for sale w/o much in the way of pics of his SPA. OTOH, the offering price should be good enough to attract one or two to take a day trip to inspect...
I just posted a "For Sale" for Tom's car on the Marketplace forum....asking price $12,000.
Had +25 views in less than an hour, and one response to me requesting pics and docs. I think that it's a very fair price, so we'll see who's interested enough to drive out to South Central PA...
Hoping for the best outcome so that Tom and family has "one less thing to worry about". According to Tom's brother about a week ago, he was still not "up" for visitors...but I'll keep trying when we are in the area the next time in a month.

I am happy to report that my efforts helped with the sale of Tom's car....transactions just completed on this past Saturday. It actually became a sort of weird story that I shared on the Cars For Sale posting that advertised Tom's '01 SPA S2000. Here's that posting from the Marketplace Forum:
Sadly, I do not have any news on Tom's rehab from his brother or sister...leading me to expect that it will be a long haul. This will be especially difficult since Tom and Susan live in a beautiful but remote house....half way up the side of an Allegheny Mountain foothill. I have asked his siblings to let me know when I can visit and/or talk by phone to him.
For those that follow S2000 sales, this has been an interesting saga....since I was acting as an intermediary for my longtime friend, Tom717. Five members on s2ki sent me expressions of interest by PM....thus received the package of pics and documents on purchase, upgrades and recent maintenance by email.
I put them in touch with Tom's relatives who were handling the sale...since Tom is in rehab from serious back surgery. As would be expected, guys named Chris and Tom did not follow up to set up an inspection. Then the weirdness started: a guy from MICHIGAN expressed interest and drove to Chambersburg PA (8 hours~) 10 days ago; expressed an interest to buy; but did not have a way to do a CASH or cash equivalent transaction...in spite of clear statement of this requirement! He drove back to MI and Tom's relatives were
In any event, I just learned that the SALE did go through this past Saturday. The new owner is a guy named Stephen, who flies under the SN "consynx" on the Allegheny Owners Forum. From what I see on his profile, he has been a member here since 2011, but does not post very often. I think that he got a good deal, and I'm 99% sure that he got a great "original" car in the bargain.
Seems that selling an S here in 2-3 weeks WITHOUT PICS TO POST is doing pretty well.

Stephen is a buddy of mine and I actually went out with him on Saturday to look and pick up the car. Tom's family couldn't have been any nicer and the transaction went smooth. The car is in good hands.
I am trying to convince him to come to the Gettysburg Get Together.

I was REALLY pleased yesterday to see "Tom Finucane" pop up on my cell phone screen...as a call came in. We chatted for about a half hour and he was in pretty good spirits...sounded almost like his old "confident lawyer" self. He described a version of hell for the last 4 months...since I first reported at the beginning of this thread. After his injury, he had 4 vertebrae fused late in February, but then had some additional injury due to some sort of lapse of care; ended up back in the hospital. After seeking a second opinion in May, he went to Hershey Med Center (Penn State's teaching hopital) to have 4 MORE vertebrae fused in early June. The good news is that he is finally mending now, with excellent care in a rehab center in Chambersburg; bad news is that he'll be there for another 2 months before discharge. He needs a cane and walker to get around...but is feeling much more positive....thus giving me the call.
He was effusive in thanking me for help with selling his beloved '01 SPA....although it was a very sad necessity for him. By the way, Susan is still nearby at the apartment address listed earlier in this thread; she has support from relatives in town and visits with Tom once-twice per week.
He was VERY APPRECIATIVE of the vintage folks that did send cards to him. I'm sure that he would appreciate any more FUNNY cards that can be sent to that same address. If anyone would like to have a short "booster" chat with him, send me a PM and I'll share his cell phone number.
I am going to call him when we will be in the Gettysburg area around the July 4th holiday and see if he's "up" for a visit.
