Default Tom Ridge resigns.

Tom Ridge today announced his resignation from the Department of Homeland Security. He said he would leave on February 1st unless a successor was confirmed sooner.

Do you think he was effective as the head of the Department of Homeland Security? Do you think the Department of Homeland Security is effective or just another big, bureaucratic department? Who do you think Bush will name to replace him?

It became apparent to me that it was JABBD when some genius came up with that absurd color coding for the various threat levels. I don't know who Bush is going to pick to fill the vacancy, but I hope it's someone who can come up with a better range of colors like magenta, chartreuse, and burnt sienna that will really confuse terrorists. My pick would be Christopher Lowell.

Won't work.

Anyone able to authorize the correct use of magenta, chartreuse, and burnt sienna would by default violate the "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

But I thought that this administration was moving toward a kinder, gentler form of apartheid? If not, then I would have to go with Martha Stewart. I'll bet she could come up with a great color scheme that would have the terrorists' heads spinning.

You are confusing GWB with GHWB. GHWB was moving toward a kinder, gentler form of apartheid. GWB is moving toward a compassionately conservative form of apartheid

Well, it would be a perfect chance for W to appoint ME!

Afterall, Feb 1 is my birthday, I know the difference between magenta and chartreuse, and I wouldn't violate the "don't ask, don't tell" stuff.
