Default Tor Browser

I keep hearing about the "dark web" and Tor. Sounds sinister but is it?

I'm curious about a browser that doesn't leave footprints for google and all the other info gatherers out there. My personal opinion is if you're using my data, I want to be paid for it. Obviously your info has value or everyone wouldn't be collecting it.

I'd like a couple thoughts and opinions on how it works and what else I would have to do to secure it or if it's even a good idea.

If you want to be truly anonymous check out "Tails". It is a linux distribution that you can boot from a flash drive that leaves absolutely no trace and comes pre-configured to work with the tor network. Once Tails is setup on your flash drive (or wherever) there is no other setup needed, just boot up and use it.

I have the TOR browser, and it seems to work seamlessly. I rarely use it. I do not, however, visit any of those dark web places. Not even sure how to find them. The main advantage of TOR is, like you say, the inability to be tracked

Wikipedea explains it pretty well: http://en.wikipedia....mity_network%29
