Default Total Lunar eclipse tonight

First one in three years.

What You Need To Know About the March 2025 Total Lunar Eclipse - NASA Science

Check it out, weather permitting. Binocs will help if you have em. We've had a lot of rain, including a downpour all last night and this morning, but the weather forecast right now is a window of clear weather from just before sunset until early AM. I'm going to take the big scope out and do some serious shooting, including the blood red moon.

I'm looking forward to your shots. You really need a telescope to do it justice.
Sadly my pillow is likely to obstruct my view.

My son said that he is all set to try and record the eclipse. The only thing that could screw it up are clouds!

We're expecting clouds here tonight.

I'll toss some camera gear in the car. I'm normally out to midnight on Thursdays. On the way home, I'll head to a golf course for a little more unobstructed view in case the sky is clear enough.

Edited... Looks like its going to be way past that and way before I'm otherwise up. NM

You know if the leadership of this country wanted to do something for the common man they would have had the Lunar eclipse earlier instead of the middle of the night!

Trump probably thinks he could do that.

It's beautiful through the scope, but no pics. It's cold and I'm being lazy. Sorry.

I was awake. ( tossing and turning in bed when it dawned on me to go look)
I saw the partial eclipse at around 1:50 EDT in the morning.
I got back up around 2:30 for what should have been prime viewing but the moon was overhead.
I simply couldn't get a good view without going outside and given that the outside temp was about 30°F....
There was no way I was getting dressed to go see the orange moon again. Since I have seen it before.

I was far more impressed by last years solar eclipse. And as Scoots put it, the mid-afternoon scheduling was a lot better!
