Ok so in the northeast, we're used to blizzards shutting down the roads.
You have Inaugurations.

good luck, hopefully you have stockpiled water and groceries for a few days so you won't have to venture out.
Good luck!!!

I'm actually looking forward to the inauguration but I'm awfully glad I don't have to come into the city.
There is a side of me that would like to see the spectacle of it all.
I just saw a news story of people that are taking a charter bus tomorrow night to go to DC, watch the inauguration and get back on the bus and come home.
30 hour round trip, no hotel involved.

Granny said they are closing all the streets into town at a certain point. Better view and warmer to watch it on TV.

Many streets downtown have been closed already. Today is pretty open as far as the bridges/streets go. Tomorrow all the bridges into the city (Chain, Key, Roosevelt, Memorial, and 14th St) from VA will be closed to regular traffic, as well as interstate routes 66 and 395 at the Beltway, major arteries into the city. All the traffic will be routed around the Beltway into MD. Routes into the city from MD for the most part will not be closed. It will be wild and crazy! As for our location in Arlington/Rosslyn (right at the Key and Roosevelt bridges), some of our streets will be closed, also. We will be walking everywhere we go and not even attempt to get anywhere by car. Plan to walk down to the Mall across the Memorial Bridge to the Lincoln Memorial. One of two bridges (the other being the Key Bridge) where pedestrians will be allowed to cross.

They did something similar in Wilmington this past Sat. (the whistle stop).
They closed virtually any access to the train station area (most of downtown Wilmington) Friday Afternoon!

So to all my good friends in and around DC, hibernation until Wed. might be good.

Yep, I see your point there. Quoting an early Genesis song: "You got to get in, to get out." In other words, they're all in (or will be), and they gotta get out.
