Default Two dimensional Barcode scanner

I'm a bit slow getting around to installing a QR code scanner on my IPhone. Wow it works! Do you guys use the scanner App?

I use the Scan app. Honestly haven't had a need to really try it out though.

I would need an iphone for that, correct?

I'm still in the dark ages of cell phones.

I have an IPhone but no scanner. What part of the phone actually does the scanning, the camera? And is the app free?

App is free. It will work on an ipad as well. The camera takes a picture of the bar code.

You don't have to have an iPhone, either. I have this free app on my Android HTC Smartphone.

Hint: The above bar-code takes you to a site near and dear to all of us!

I use QuickMark, but I don't know if it is available for the iPhone.

I have the Microsoft Tag app on my I-Phone 4 but found it does NOT always work. The app that I really think is cool is Bahn Tech's Barcode Scanner..

It really comes in handy when one is not sure if the product one is looking at is a good deal or not (I.E. while at Costco). I recently used it when I discovered a Point of Sale display for Griot's Garage products at Advanced Auto. I scanned the UPC Code of their leather conditioner and found that the price was the same as Griot's web site but without the shipping cost.
