Default Vacation Plans 2014

Hadn't planned any trips for 2014 except for Spring Fling, until today. The +1 has decided to run the Myrtle Beach marathon in mid Feb, so we are headed down there. Will also work in some visiting with my suthin' gal pal, Val, and her lovely +1.

Spring Fling is on the schedule. Nothing else yet, though it is our 30th wedding anniversary in 2014. Maybe we'll plan a trip somewhere to celebrate.

My wife works on a contract basis without any paid vacation time since being laid off from her previous employer. The plant where she is contracting is shutting down for the last two weeks of December, so we decided to make use of the forced vacation and made plans to spend Christmas and New Years on Sanibel Island in Florida.

Today she got word that her contract isn't being renewed after the shut down, so any 2014 vacation plans are in limbo until we find out if she'll be able to find work.

Mystic, CT this summer. I have too much stuff going on to go over the holidays.
We have some "staycations" planned over the next couple of months, once my schedule clears up a bit. A trip to Key West, another trip to Anna Maria Island, one to Sanibel, one to Tarpon Springs, and probably another visit to Cedar Key.
We'd also like to pay visits to some folks in Georgiá, since they won't come see us, and there's another couple somewhere in the backwaters of the Carolinas we'd like to see and maybe crack a few crabs with.

Last year almost all of my time off has been sucked up with sick time and funerals.
The boss (i.e. my better half) and I decided we should maybe take a vacation and go somewhere this year.
an island or similar. somewhere warm. maybe golf... no firm plans yet though.

I think your boss is right! You need to get away.

We have done that BS of using vaca time for shoulder, shoulder, hernia, yada, yada, and it sucks. Get better and use your vaca time for fun!!

I hope you will still go on the FL trip!

Good luck to her in finding some permanent employment.

Well... Kathy has found a shack in St. Teresa, FL for us to head to in early February..... kind of out in the middle of nowhere, so we can have some time without others around!

Then the Dragon in April...

Spring Fling in May....

Then the Dragon in September.....

And who knows what else!

Florida is a done deal. We're going. I'm trying to convince her not to think about looking for a job until we come home.

We're in good shape. Have some cash saved up. Retirement accounts are good. House is nearly paid off. She worries, but I'm not too concerned.
