Default Venmo

If you are using Venmo you might want to check this link. Donna is doing a barn tack sale this weekend and it was suggested she use Venmo. I had no idea what is was other than paying 17 year olds for sex. She has a friend going with her who has Venmo so she will not be signing up.

Kids and the wife use it. A lot of other people I know use it. I do not do any banking or financial stuff on my phone at all. I don't have any apps installed.

I use credit cards for pretty much everything. No debit cards. I am still in the mode that if my phone is stolen or hacked, I have nothing to lose because there is nothing on there a crook can use.

Thank you for the post, Dave. I use Venmo for haircuts and recently got paid using it when I sold my Blizzak tires. I checked my security settings and I'm good.

Funny thing. I saw I had a $255 credit balance. It seems that when I sold the tires the money didn't go into my bank but sat in Venmo as money to be used for my purchases. I had the balance transferred to my bank. I thought it always went straight there.

I don’t want Venmo or any other device that may be susceptible to scam. In my detailing business I take cash or check only. No credit cards.

Patricia, you do have to do the extra step of transferring the $ to your account.
Another one I use is Zelle. That is a bank to bank transfer. My brother in law did have an issue using Venmo.

As far as a debit card, I only use it to get cash from the ATM. I try to safe guard it a bit. The ATM card is not tied to my savings for purchases. If there is not enough $ in the checking account, a transaction would be declined.

Thank you, Lainey for the tip. I have only been paid by Venmo twice when, when I sold things. I normally use it for services.

I keep a venmo and paypal balance. It's useful for the variety of online raffles and purchases I do, even football pools. Even my accountant now sends a Paypal invoice.

You can link it to your regular bank accounts and when you pay choose from where to use the money.

The oddity is that it's really a list piggy bank. I have never withdrawn from either of them, just pay straight from there and let others pay me there when its appropriate.
