It's self-righteous, and NO, I really am not getting pulled into this thread!

Thanks for the quick correction.
I REALLY didn't want to do this....
Say you're not talking about the 40,000 dead Iraqi civilians--or 100,000 depending on who's counting.
--or the 300,000 (so far) dead found in Saddam's mass graves
Say you're not talking about the looting of the museums that stored the origins of western civilization.
--Fact checker--the museum was "looted" by the curators, who RETURNED the priceless artifacts after Baghdad calmed down.
Say you're not talking about the looting of millions of tons of munitions.
--Done before we even got there!
Say you're not talking about torture and murder of civilians in U.S. run prisons--so embarressing that the highest in the U.S. government were angered.
--Yep, and those people are going to jail for messing with the murderers they were jailing. Oh, and it's embarassing. Sorry, missed another one.
Say you're not talking about preaching a "crusade."
--Jeez! Bush says this once, and gets ROUNDLY (and correctly) lambasted by the press for weeks. You haven't been carrying this around for two years, have you?
Say you're not talking about convincing many perhaps most Americans that the Iraqi people bombed New York (and the Saudis go blameless).
--Show me ANYWHERE this was said by Bush, Cheney, Rice, Powell, and I'll give you a lollipop.
Please say you're not equating Mark Twain's dismal view of the Spanish American War with our current noble cause in the cradle of civilization
--Cradle of civilization? Aw c'mon now! They found some stars and discovered algebra a LONG time ago.
Can't we talk about how much we both think that Silverstone Metallic is the BEST color for the S2000? How about how it's great BLASTING through the twisties in Wyoming--but look out for speed traps when you run up on those little towns. Or how an Elk in the road can ruin your whole day!

Yea Dean, that's my thinking too. I have a wehrmacht belt buckle from WWII (the Big One!) that is embossed "Gott Mit Uns" (God is with us). I appreciate the irony - Hitler was a Christian, too

I wasn't aware that Hitler was a Christian. I thought he was an occultist with that whole Nietzsche and Wagner idea of being descended from Aryan supermen and all of that nonsense.

A point of reference:
I support our troops--I mean REALLY support them. San Clemente is right next to Camp Pendleton (Marines), and the local paper lists where you can send care packages to the guys in Iraq.
These guys really appreciate phone cards and magazines, but next on their list are stickers, crayons, soccer balls and Elmer's glue for the local kids. These are great guys and gals who are idealistic in the best sense of the word.
Oh, and the guards at Abu Ghraib say that the stickers REALLY HURT when you pull them off the prisoners.
