At what age will you start taking Social Security?
I'm thinking I'll start taking it as soon as possible around age 62. But others wait a long time to maximize the benefit. I think that is a big risk because if SS ever gets "modified" is is likely to change the most for those who are not yet enrolled.
How about you? Are you going to take it sooner or later?

I'm going to wait as long as I can in order to maximize the benefit. I suspect that if the system goes belly up it won't matter if you're enrolled or not. I think if it's modified it will be modified for everyone. If anything there will be a cutoff age after which the modified plan sets in. I don't think being enrolled will make any difference.
I also suspect that the system is going to be around forever. I really don't believe the politicians or the public is going to let it die.

Was going to start this January @ 65 but, have just changed jobs so I will wait until 66 so I can collect full benefits and still earn all I can and not have to pay any back. Yes, its the big double dip. I have no fears that SS will be around and that folks in their 60s are not going to have any changes. Even the "Tea Baggers" know better than to screw with that segment of the population.

I won't be collecting much, if any. But I would wait.
