I got an email from a gearhead buddy of mine a few months ago about an article on a junkyard in Pine Grove, PA. When I found out it was sort of between Cape May and Gettysburg (where I usually stop before heading home), I decided to check it out. Klinger's Recycling is the name, and the place is a trip. There's a huge wall of cars that serves as the fence for the place. The owner, Dean Klinger, is a nice guy and was very welcoming when I stopped in and told him I just wanted to snoop around and take some pictures. I could have spent all day there, but rain was threatening and I needed to get back on the road. Here's a bunch of pics. (the Mustang pics are for Roy, the Pontiac pics are for me )
OMG, I didn't think places like that still exist. I could spend a week there. A restoration guy's heaven. Hard to believe many of those bodies have not been grabbed up by hot rodders. Did you see any British cars? I didn't notice any in the pictures.
I can't even begin to imagine how many hornet and yellow jacket nets are lurking in there.
Many moon ago I used to go junking to get parks for my healey.
every once in a while, you'd pull on a part or a door and rip open a nest.
This got especially annoying if it was on the car that had the part you needed.
