What is up with the ads I'm now seeing since the "maintenance"?

I downloaded Google Chrome as suggested over in NE, and I'm not getting the ads on my netbook, but I am on the work PC Maybe that's due to using Win 7 on netbook and XP here?

I'm still listed as a member, though not a gold one, but don't see why there is now a difference in pop up ads. Most annoying. Anyone have any suggestions?

 

It's the new owners. Internet Brands floods all forums they own with spam ads unfortunately. You can get adblocker which should block most or all of them.

 

Did you install Adblock on your work PC? I never see any type of ads, including pop-ups.

 

I did. The ads are mostly here on S2KI. I have to click on ad block to block them and add filter. Didn't have to do that before the "maintenance". Maybe I'll get them all blocked down the line.

 

I'm not getting any popups. There is a banner across the top, but I was seeing that before the changeover.

 

Actually, the ads I refer to are banners. Sometimes on the top, sometimes in the middle of the thread. I keep clicking and blocking but new ones keep showing up. I'm annoyed by them. Don't know why, but I am.

 

I see an ad at the top of the forum but I never pay any attention to it so I have no idea who its for or if it changes. I never see anything anywhere else. I think they were there before the new owners took over but if I start seeing popups and ads all over the place, I'm complaining because I pay $$ not to have to deal with that mess.

You, as a Diamond member, should not get any ads at all. I guess Diamonds are a girl's best friend!

 

I just installed the newest version of AdBlock Plus (into FireFox), and, unlike before, I've got no ads at all. None of those double underlined link ads, no banners, nothing. And I'm just a lowly Guest. HPH

 

I thought I had the most current version.....I'll have to check.
