While Michele's cousin Kristin was in Japan on business she went to a restaraunt with some friends. They were eating their meal and she noticed a table there that seemed as if it was reserved for someone special, it had a very ornate large chair at the head of the table and had the best seat in the place. She asked the waiter what it was for and as she was asking a group sat at it and a gentleman was seated at the fancy chair. The waiter said it was Japanese tradition to save the seat for the most important person in the restaruant. So when the waiter returned she asked what was so special about him. The waiter went on to explain that he was the best surgeon in Japan a liver trandplant surgeon. As you could imagine her eyes grew wide and she felt compelled to go speak with him, as many of you know Kristin donated 60% of her liver to my wife Michele in 2002. After introducing herself to the gentleman they began to chat and it turns out he trained in Philly with the same Dr.'s who performed the surgery on her and Michele. He was so impressed with her courage to go thru with surgery he said in Japanese loosely translated "one life one gift" she loved it and asked him to write it down for her and she was going to get it tattoed along side her scar from the surgery. Anyway here are some pics of that event.
