I don't need to see the video to get choked up. That first song does it to me every time. All you have to do is listen to the words and think about what it is saying. THAT should get every American choked up.

Dang you RC - Ryder, now I can't stop crying.

^I'm not familiar with the first song. Sounds like Toby Keith. It's the second song that does me in every time. Proud to Be An American. My kids learned that one in the fourth grade and it was the first time I'd heard it, in their classrooms. I'd always fight tears, listening to the sweet voices of 10 year-olds singing it.

A very moving tribute. Unfortunately, it happens far too often in my neighborhood. Community turnout for fallen heroes here has been very strong ever since we brought Staff Sgt. Matt Maupin home nearly 4 years after he was captured.

Here's a photo of Staff Sgt. Maupin

I thought about it for a while before I posted it. It's hard to be proud of someone you don't even know. But, I found it easy to be proud of my fellow Americans who took the time to .......... This is just an example of positive things that happen every day. Without that HP turning on his camera, this would be just another OBE. Thanks for no political comments to keep this going.

I also think often of my two nephews who are in Iraq. One is in the Air Force and one is in the Marines. So many of my relatives are in the military and I for one am quite proud they are proud to be serving the United States of America.

They would be inappropriate. We all have our thoughts on the two theaters of battle going on. My personal opinion differs between them but I have nothing but the greatest respect for the men and women serving there and for those in uniform supporting them. I have nothing but sorrow for those killed and wounded and for their families and friends.

I have thought about this video for two days since I watched the entire thing. I wanted to post a comment that was both worth while and poignant, but at the same time not perceived as being political as it involved the media not reporting this in the news.

I even started to write a poem about the contrast between heroes and martyrs, but I stalled. In the end all I can state is: What a send off. It will never bring that family's soldier back, but I am certain that it will definitely give them something more to remember him by. May he rest in peace.
