Out and about more, playing with my car and other toys. Outdoor work around the house.

Getting ready to go to Fla. for 6 weeks next month. That will eliminate my winter doldrums until we leave. Lets see, where are my flip flops and sun screen.

Headchef, we like it when you stop by. Any diversion from winter doldrums are good!

It's been pretty much a "non" winter so far, so I'm not too deep into the doldrums this year.

So, it's too cold out? Snow? No sunshine? Explain to this So Cal native, please. I like winter here because it's never hot and not usually cold.

You need to spend some time here in the winter.

Our skies are gray. It's cold out, Average high temp in the mid 30's, low temp, in the 20's. There is no color. The trees are bare, the grass is dormant, no colorful flowers. Then there is the snow and ice, however not much of that for us so far this year. Unless you are a die hard person or love the winter sports, winter isn't a good time here in New England and Headchef's area likely gets colder weather and more snow that my area. The lack of sunshine in the winter months really gets to people. It also affects their Vitamin D levels, which is bad for the bones. My levels were so low I had to take a prescription supplement for six weeks, and was instructed to take a rather high dose indefinitely.

However in spite of this crap weather, we stay. In my case, born and raised here in New England, family is here, grandkids are here. I'm not leaving anytime soon. The spring time and change of seasons are pretty neat. I just count down the days until spring.

Snow here in Vt on the ground and we have freezing rain coming down on top of the snow. Just got in from shoveling trying to dry off.

Yes, guilty as charged. I noticed the hospital has new pansies planted around the walkways. All pretty blue-violet ones.
