The wrist watch poll
The other night I was shopping and glanced into a display case with watches.
They were brand names, Citizen, Seiko, among others (No Rolex watches in Kohl's
)
A long time ago, Rick bought me a nice looking Citizen watch. I liked it, didn't think about the $ he spent for it, wore it for a long time, then lost it.
Since then, I've been wearing Timex watches or other inexpensive watches. My current watch (2+ year) was about $45.00. It's a Timex and the face will light up at night if you push the stem in. Comes in handy at times.
When I saw the price tags on some of the watches in the display case, I thought NO WAY, would I spend $$$$ on a watch today. I can find other things that I think are worth several hundred dollars or more.
Watches are pretty basic, they don't have to do a lot, so an inexpensive Timex works for me. For some folks, it's gotta be a Rolex.

Rolexes and the like, for all that they keep time pretty well, are really jewelery.
I've been wearing a watch for so long (I have two, intermediate brands, both gifts) that I'm used to it -- and feel a bit naked without one. This despite that nowadays I always have my phone with me, which has far more precise timekeeping.
Maybe I'll force myself to go native and just use my phone -- as long as I remember to leave the phone home and wear the pants (instead of the other way around), I'll be fine.

Lainey I like your poll.
I don't wear a watch. I have two classic ones that sit in a drawer and have for years. Ones an Omega Chronostop with a red face. I bought in a PX at Subic Bay.
The other is a my favorite. It's the first LED watch ever made. It's called a Novus.
Now I'd like to comment about Rolex's Piaget's, Omega's and the elbow move. Next time you're in a affluent bar, look at the old guys sitting at it. see how many have have one elbow propped up in the air with one of those watches on it.
Watch fishing is a big sport in Naples but you have to watch out for the cougars if you're going to catch a trophy bride.

I didn't know about watch fishing, I generally don't frequent bars, especially affluent ones,
however, I will make a point to do so if I get a chance and check out the watches!
PS, don't get me wrong, IF I had a bit more cash, (well a lot more cash) I'd likely wear a more attractive watch. I've seen some really nice ones out there. If I had some free $$ to spend and have make a choice on a more expensive watch, a new camera lens or even a new "bauble", the watch would be last on the list.
Never felt the need to wear a watch. Time isn't that important to me. Besides, these days you have cell phones, computers, etc. to get the time from. I also hated the feel of wearing one, and could never keep one looking good. Always banged it up on something.

I stopped wearing a watch about six months ago. It wasn't a piece of jewelry for me and, if I want to know the time and no clock is around, I look at my phone. The +1 wears a watch, though. I just bought him an inexpensive black sport watch, which he really likes. I saw him looking at sport watches at the PX, but he didn't see anything he liked. It has a stopwatch, analog and digital time and a gadget around the dial that shows time difference for zones. A few years ago, I bought him a replica of a WWII watch that he wears, but he's afraid of losing it for some reason.
I often wear watches and have a large number of them. I have a citizen, two seikos, two betty boop watches (I wear a BB watch most often) and several others. I like watches but use my cellphone for the time more than a watch. +1 has several watches but wears his sports watch most of the time.
