Default You don't know me

You give your hand to me
And then you say, "Hello."
And I can hardly speak,
My heart is beating so.
And anyone can tell
You think you know me well.
Well, you don't know me.
(no you don't know me)
No you don't know the one
Who dreams of you at night;
And longs to kiss your lips
And longs to hold you tight
Oh I'm just a friend.
That's all I've ever been.
Cause you don't know me.
(no you don't know me)
For I never knew the art of making love,
Though my heart aches with love for you.
Afraid and shy, I let my chance go by.
A chance that you might love me too.
(love me too)
You give your hand to me,
And then you say, "Goodbye."
I watched you walk away,
Beside the lucky guy
Oh, you'll never ever know
The one who loved you so.
Well, you don't know me
(For I never knew the art of making love, )
(Though my heart aches with love for you. )
Afraid and shy, I let my chance go by.
A chance that you might love me too.
(love me too)
Oh, you give your hand to me,
And then you say, "Goodbye."
I watched you walk away,
Beside the lucky guy
Oh, you'll never ever know
The one who loved you so.
Well, you don't know me
(you don't love me, you don't know me)

"You Don't Know Me"

Probably. Tonight I was listening to the album "Genius Loves Company". Ray Charles sings duets with others. He did this song with Diana Krall. The song is one of my favorites and I didn't think it could be done any better than Ray Charles did it originally, but I think this version (the duet) is even better than his original.

Anyway, I like this song so much I decided to post it, even if I did post it before.

If you get the chance pick up the album "Genius Love Company" by Ray Charles and others. Also give a listen to "Duets" by Tony Bennett and others. Both are works of art.

Here's another of my favorites,

I'll be home, my darling
Please wait for me (wait for me)
We'll stroll along together
Once more our love will be free

At the corner drugstore
Each Saturday we would meet (we would meet)
I'd walk you home in the moonlight
All of these things we'll repeat

So darling, as I write this letter
Here's hoping you're thinking of me
My mind's made up

We have "Duets". I agree, Rob.

As far as I'm concerned, the Flamingos never made a bad record! I have lots of their 45's, though I admit I never play them anymore. (Have everything on my PC!)
Last I looked their records were highly collectibles. I've got 3 or 4 of their early albums. They had a great sound, that's for sure.

Do you remember the Skyliners. I think their "Since I Don't Have You" is right up there with "I'll Be Home" as one of the all time great DooWop songs.

I don't have plans and schemes,
And I don't have hopes and dreams,
I-I-I don't have anything
Since I don't have you.

I don't have fond desires,
And I don't have happy hours,
I-I-I don't have anything
Since I don't have you.

I don't have happiness, and I guess
I never will again.
When you walked out on me,
In walked old misery,
And he's been here since then.

I don't have love to share,
And I don't have one who cares.
I-I-I don't have anything
Since--I don't--have--
You, you, you, you
You, you, you, you
You, you, you, you
(Yo-o-o-o-o-o-o-ou
