Just realized I had quite a bit of Prince Pasta in the cabinet. I think I'll donate it to a food pantry/food drive . I really didn't care for it.

Anyone else besides parker/Dave make their own pasta?

Emil do you make your own?

My brother spent a few years in Italy and learned to cook from several old grandmas there. When he's feeling lazy and doesn't make it from scratch, the only noodles he'll buy are Barilla.

Pasta is kind of the default "I forgot to pull something out of the freezer and I don't want to cook anything elaborate" meal.

with that said, it usually involves making up a clam sauce or maybe a shrimp scampi.

It has been many moon since we made our own pasta.
The two really don't compare.

I do miss the Prince factory. they used to have a restaurant on-site at the factory in lowell, ma. It was very good, especially at lunch.

We eat quite a bit of pasta. We always have some prepared meals in the freezer which "go" with pasta. Sauce and meatballs, meat sauce, chicken broccoli served with ziti, and scampi is a favorite too.

That brings back memories. Does anyone else from NE remember, "Wednesday is Prince spaghetti day"? Or the Prince spaghetti dinner kits? And, IIRC, the sauce came in a can instead of a jar back then.

I'm not all that fussy about pasta. I don't like the vegetable-based stuff in the odd colors or the whole wheat stuff. I want my pasta white and made primarily from Semolina wheat. I don't want it supplemented with fiber, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, or any other foreign crap that doesn't belong there. This is America, dammit!

I think Martha usually buys Barilla.

I think we still have those Prince Spaghetti Day Commercials. Canned or jar pasta sauce???NO WAY in my house.

Actually I'm sure we've had some around from time to time, but it's not the norm.

I did not care for the colored pasta for a while, now it's OK. I've got a pasta salad in my refrigerator right now made from tri colored pasta. But it may be OK...I think they used food coloring not veggies.

My mother used to make sauce from scratch when I was a kid. Martha and I really don't have time for that now, so we use sauce from a jar and add meatballs, sausage, or something else to it. Some of the Newman's stuff isn't too bad.

I'm picky on tomato sauce. VERY rarely do I care for the red sauce served in restaurants, it seems as if it's just tomato sauce. Marinara ones are usually better, and as odd as it may seem, the tomato sauce served over pasta at the chain restaurant Papa Gino's is quite tasty.
