Default Are you sick yet?

Based on the cough that developed last night, it looks like I'll be enjoying my first cold of the season for the next few weeks. How about you? Did you get your winter cold yet? Do you usually get one? Is there anybody out there that really and truly "never gets sick?"

I usually get two or more colds in the winter. Sometimes i just get one long cold that goes on for over a month.

I have been VERY fortunate and the germs have not yet found me. For me, a cold often leads to asthma issues, so I'm very thankful. There have been lots of respiratory virus things going around, and they linger. My son had a bout with one that lasted about eight weeks and locally I'm hearing of a bit more pneumonia than seems to be the norm.

MA is already reporting a large number of flu cases. We got our flu shots, but hear the vaccine is not very effective against the current strain. Hopefully, if we get the flu, the vaccine will at least help us get a milder case.

Take care, Bill.

I am fortunate that I rarely get sick. I can't remember the last time I was. These days I'm not as exposed to other people since I'm not in an office. So that could be helping. I did get a flu shot recently and had a pneumonia shot a couple of years ago. I never had any vaccines for those before that, but my GP said it would not hurt. I have also had the shingles vaccine.

My Dr has me get a flu shot every year, and pneumonia shot, too. But toi, toi, toi, apparently I have a very strong immune system, since I hardly ever get sick. I just have to watch out that I don’t get hit by a speeding vehicle. That can be worse than the flu...

I try not to plan my colds. Haven't gotten a flu shot in a couple years. And, I never brag - that's a sure way to have things go bad.

This is true in other areas as well. Our cat was having stomach issues. A small late night meal seems to have settled her stomach. Just yesterday I was thinking how well she's been doing. Then I noticed I needed to do a bit of clean up on our bed.......yes on the comforter, but it's washable. I tempted the fates.....

Yeah, one of those was definitely enough.

The fates don‘t mind if you introduce your unintended boasting with “apparently“. That softens your claim sufficiently to avoid sowing troubles...

Another friend of mine just got shingles and is miserable. If you are 60+, get vaccinated. Shingles is the sh*ts.
