Default "?"about SSR 2,5...

Mickey,you nearly convinced me,to ask Santa,for a PC,and some SSR 2.5,as a Christmas gift.
As I said before,I'm a little scared of PC,and abrasive usage,as I've seen so many "burn through"paint job,while polishing,but that was with rotary buffers,and I understand,PC is different.
So,I have a coupled questions:
1-:Want to get rid of swirls marks;how often, can I use something like SSR 2.5,and a PC,without danger of damaging the clearcoat?my understanding,is,that this is an abrasive solution,(a gentle coumpound???)and repeated use, will wear through the clearcoat, right?
2-:After SSR 2.5,should I just follow with Klasse AIO,and a few coats of P21-S,like I normally do?
3-o you use your PC,for anything else, beside swirl removing???or is it only dedicated for that ???
Thank's,
-Emil.

Emil,

Soon this will be you . . .

1. SSR2.5 is a medium cut compound. I wouldn't use it any more often than necessary. If you get SSR2.5 then I would also get a finishing polish like SSR1 or Pinnacle XMT #1. Finishing polishes are much less abrasive and therefore will remove much less paint. You'll likely need a finishing polish to remove any buffer haze from the SSR2.5 and then you can use it to remove any light marring you may get in the future. Remember . . . always use the least aggressive method to get the job done.

2. After a medium cut polish, I always like to follow up with a finishing polish. The finishing polish really adds extra gloss to the result by removing any fine scratches remaining after SSR2.5 is used. After the SSR1 then I would follow up with AIO and then P21S. If that's too many steps than you want to do then you could also skip the AIO and go straight to P21S.

3. The PC is a great tool. If you do any woodworking it is also a great sander. Also, a lot of people I know use the PC around the house to polish tile, stone counter tops, and showers/bath tubs. For your car though, you can also use it to apply and remove AIO or wax. You can also buy a brush head which allows you to use the PC for carpet scrubbing.

and us contrarians even use it to apply and remove protectants- (synthetics and carnbas)
especially on big cars, like vans!
i like the even coat of product that the pc gives- yes it uses more, but to me thats just a cost that i dont mind

Oh yeah! I also wanted to add that SSR2.5 dusts a lot. You may be happier with a polish of similar abrasiveness that dusts less like Optimum Compound, Menzerna Intensive Polish, or XMT #3.

Thank's a lot,Guys. for the quick answers.
Mickey, you've seen my car,at the Nor'Easter;I know,it's not like brand new,I have a few swirls marks, specially on the hood, and trunk;what kind of swirl removing product, would you advise me to use on it??
I want to make it looking good, but,as I said before,I'm a little scared of,too much an abrasive coumpond;I mentionned the SSR-2,because I read your review of it,a few days ago,but do you think,I could use something more "gentle",and still get the job done, and if so,what ould you suggest???
As far as, the multiple steps involved,to make it look good,(short of Zaino,!!! )I really don't mind;my car is now stored, for the winter, and I'll have all this time, till April,to take care of it.!!!

I think the 7424 isn't necessary. The 7336 model is the same unit without the added accessories. It's also cheaper. Put that money towards a set of the Edge pads and some poorboys 2.5 and 1 and you're good to go. I also like to use Poorboy's EXP synthetic sealant. Good stuff.

1-O.K.so what are the main differences,between #7424 and #7336???(beside $$$)
2-What kind of accessories,and wich pads,will I need,as a beginner kit???(for car only...)
3-Do you think,SSR 2.5 is too agressive,to start with?should I use something more "gentle",for a first try???
Thank's,
-Emil.
