Default Am I applying P21s correctly?

I just recently started using P21S and it even makes my silver and white cars glow . But the problem is that after 2 washes it is no longer butter smooth to touch. I use Meguiars Soft Wash Gel to wash weekly.

I apply and wait for about 1 minute before buffing off (Instructions say to not let it dry/haze). However it still beads water just fine, but call me pedantic cause I like the butter smooth feel. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

hard to say. chances are though you're not letting the wax sit long enough. it shouldn't be oily or leave a lot of residue when you're wiping the wax off. wax limited area to find out how long you can let the wax sit before buffing it off. depending on the wax, i can do 2-3 panels before buffing off (maybe 15-25 minutes worth), some i can do more (like supernatural which i do the whole car, let it sit for awhile, THEN buff off). also make sure you're putting on nice thin layers. always better off doing two super thin layers than a layer of junk.

the other issue isn't the soap, it's the dillution of it. if you're adding too much soap to your water, it may strip wax off easier.

hope this helps and keep us posted with your findings

p21s is wipe wipe off- don't let it sit.
sounds like you might have a clay issue- has the car been clayed?

wax protects, but clay smooths...

Car has not been clayed before as it doesn't require it. It only has 3800km's on it. Been polished with Mezerna so finish is perfectly prepped.

I used NXT 2.0 before this and it stayed butter smooth for a while.

wax will evaporate after a period of time... takes more than a coupla weeks usually. heat, humidity, etc are the primary factors as to how long it lasts- also whether the car is inside or out and whether its covered or not.

you can extend the life of your wax and protection by using a synthetic protectant first (at least a coupla coats) then top with wax. better wetter deeper shine that lasts longer- do i sound like a salesman?!!

(i am not)

-------------

btw, nxt is a synthetic, but its prob the lowest "hang time (or cling time)"- it does not have staying power like most other synthetics. it is better than wax but not as good as other synthetics.

The car is garaged 24/7 and it is hot humid right now. You'd actually be surprised that NXT 2.0 is much better at clinging on then 1.0!!!

Will steal some Zaino off my friend and give it ago then...Thx mate!!

You still may need to clay it. Clay bars will remove contaminants that polishing cant. While the car is wet put your hand in a plastic bag and run it over the car. If the paint feels rough then it needs clay. I would try it anyways, just make sure to apply some wax after that.

I also agree wanabe. NXT 2.0 has horrible durability. The best synthetic ive used is Meguiars #21. Looks amazing when topped with #26.

just because your car is relatively new doesn't mean it doesn't need clay

The paint is completely contaminant free and has no lumps or stubbles what so ever on the surface. I did clay 1 panel when I was doing a full detail on it last time and the clay was spotless so I didn't bother doing the rest of the car.

My daily is an Accord Euro (US TSX) and that has been clayed and polished using Mazerna and also topped with P21s. Same thing, it doesn't feel all that smooth after 2 washes or so. Same thing to my other car an Audi TT.

I wash with meguiars lambswool mitt and soft wash gel in an underground wash bay away from the sun. So you all suggest I go with some synthetics and then top with P21s huh? Will give it a shot and report back.
