Default anifreeze stains!

hey guys I few months ago I had a rad fix and was on a tight budget so I "patched it" till I got paid and could get a new one. Well during this time my rad leaked and got anifreeze all over my engine bay and has made white spots all over the paint. I can't find anything to get them off at all. Ive scrubed with mean green and when its wet they look like they are gone but as soon as it drys it comes back.

Please help me! I really hope I didn't ruin the paint

have never dealt with antifreeze on paint. i think it could depend on which antifreeze (what the contents are). if you have the container can you let us know what the contents are?

is the paint "etched"? are there craters in the paint, and can you catch a fingernail in the edge of the craters if they are there? can you get some pics for us?

since they come back when dry it is sounding to me like paint stains- but get us some of the answers above and we should be able to figure out the next step.

its smooth and didn't etch into the paint. The anitfreeze was just the green 50/50 that you get at walmart.

pretty sure we can get that off-
really would help to know what the ingredients are if you have them.

without the ingredients, i would suggest that the first step would be a paint cleaner. paint cleaners are a type of polish. gonna have to rub hard, but this should get it.

First things first, if you haven't already, wash the area down with a good degreaser. As far as a paint cleaner, you can get the Meguiars paint cleaner at any O'reilly's, autozone, or advanced auto parts. This should work fine for getting that off.

Best of luck,
Matt

I went to advanced auto but was unsure what to buy. I couldn't find anything labled paint cleaner. I found some "cleaner waxes" but was unsure if that was what your talking about.

The anifreeze was prestone 50/50 like this

I hope this can help you figure out what I need to do. Is the cleaner wax what I needed? or are you talking about somthing like this

I doubt that's going to fix it, but if you've already bought it, there's certainly no harm in trying.

Duragloss has a product called 501 that I bet would work. I've yet to use anything that cleans paint as well as 501. Disregard the fact that it says it's for RVs and boats - that doesn't matter. I use it on car paint all the time. Outstanding product.

Failing DG501, a water spot remover might work. The one I use is something I buy locally, and is highly acidic, so they probably won't ship it. This Chemical Guys Water Spot Remover looks very similar, and I suspect it's the same stuff.

I didn't buy it I posted on here about it to see if that was what I needed or not. I'll order the 501 and water spot remover today. I hope this works
