Any wackos going to wake the dragon?
I just booked a cabin for the New England group and I. It will be my first trip to the dragon! 16 hour drive, but should be worth it. I was wondering if any wackos are planning on attending so maybe we can have beer and talk about detailing for a while....
I'll be in the area as my wife and I are going down to work on our cabin in NC. She'll be down the week after Easter and I'm following on the 13th. I'll make one run south (I always say that but it will probably be 3 :-)) late Friday afternoon. Saturday, we'll be coming back up to run the Dragon/Cherohala loop.
We won't be taking part in the WTD festivities but look forward to seeing some of folks down there.
You're gonna love it! There's a great car commercial (Mazda, I think) where the guy gets out of the car after a spirited run and puts his hands on his knees to catch his breath and let his heart rate slow down. I swear, that's what I felt like after my first run on the Dragon.
While western North Carolina is loaded with great roads to drive none rival the Dragon for sheer intensity. There are more curves packed into that section of Rt. 129 than just about any place in the country. If you're lucky enough to get a full, clear run at speed... well, let's just say you'll want to get out of the car at the end of it and put your hands on your knees to catch your breath. (and probably mumble something like, "Holy, mother of God!)
Expect a lot of traffic that weekend. Along with our group, Z3's and 4's will be in town as well as a group from WNC Rides. (Locals with a variety of cars.) Blend in the usual mix of tourists and bikes and it's going to be crowded.

Sweet! I am so stoked about this for so many reasons. Of course driving the dragon is one of them, but the whole 16hr road trip with a bunch of buddies is a big reason I am pumped as well. Maybe I will see you there!
wanabe: It's not too late! You can still sign up and at this point we still have a pair of beds in the NE cabin available!
