Anyone using a car cover?
I'm interested in using a car cover for work and home (until I move and get a garage.) I saw one at the Handa-Accessories website, but wasn't sure if it was made specifically for the S2K or not. I'm also wondering about its quality and the risk of it scratching the paint.'
If anyone has this car cover or owns a good one, I'd be interested in hearing the pros and cons. Also, its listing for around $166 - which seems high. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

One of our sponsors (Top Notch) sells aftermarket covers too that are fitted for the car. I can't comment on the OEM cover (although it is a fitted cover), but I have the Noah cover and like it very much. I have not had any problems with scratching yet (keeping my fingers crossed).

I managed to get my dealer to include the full Honda cover in with the car - list price was about $150 dollar - fits very well and tight to the car with elastic edges in the corners - but it is a bit difficult putting it away, it's like packing a parachute and you have to be careful not to get grit and dirt on it when you are collecting it together which you could scatch the paint with next time its used. It's nice to put on the car if you are not using the car for a week or so - but everyday would be a pain to use.

H and A has the OEM car cover at a much lower price than a dealership would charge you. I have it and use it regularly. I have not had any problems with scratches, but when I fold it up on the car as the directions specify, I occaisionally get an oily or greasy spot on the car (probably rubbing off of the cover where the cover contacts the dirty tires or the underside of the car or the tailpipes). It wipes right off though.

I also use the OEM S2K cover for my car. It is extra protection from the kids and animals that are coming and going in the garage. The rear of the cover is heat resistant to prevent damage from hot exhaust pipes. You can also lock the cover with a cable and the grommets in the center of the car. This may help you if the car is outside. My guess is that you could lose a cover if it was outside overnight. The flannel on the inside keeps the finish. I never put the cover on wet or dirty. Which means that if I am going to cover, I will wash the car first if I've been in the rain or wet roads. Yes...I will wash it in the rain, bring it in the garage to chamois. I only drive 1-200 miles per month, so most of the time it is in the garage. I have not had to wash or dry the cover, you'd need to get that kind of maintenance tip from someone else.

Great guys, thanks for all your input. I'm checking Covercraft's Weathershield pricing to see how it stacks up against the OEM one.
Plus, the dealership (where I bought the S2K) sales and finance guys are saying they can get me the cover at their cost (they buy it from parts at employee rates and discounts.) I'm slightly weary, but will do a comparison once I get all the numbers.
Again, thanks everyone.

I purchased my car cover from California Car Cover (http://www.calcarcover.com/).
I ordered the "Superweave". It was expensive, but it is absolutely worth it!!! They custom make it so if fits my car perfectly. It's waterproof, breathable, thin, and light. I take it whereever I go, I cover the car at work and at home. It does not take much room in my trunk. I can take it off in about 30 sec and place it on in about a minute. I love it, it is the best car cover I ever had.
Here is the writeup on the website:
This patented encapsulation process places an ultra-thin film around the fabric fibers and precisely places a durable, breathable barrier within the woven fabric to complete the high performance process. Unlike traditional coatings and laminations that just protect one side of a fabric. Nextec

I also ordered from california car cover. I bought it with the lock, cable and bag. Fits perfectly. Worth the money. I was unsure of which one to buy, but the site and the service folks answered my questions.

I went with the Cal Car Cover Superweave as well and have been VERY happy. Drop the car off at BART and put the cover on, and I don't even worry about what moron might decide to key me today, etc. And keeps it much, much cleaner.
