Thumbs down applying nxt

Okay guys i am a little confused after reading this board. Here are the products i use and the method i apply it on the surface now

i first wash the car with the meguiars NXT car wash and dry it
Then i apply a coat of the meguiars glaze #7
Next i apply NXT paste
Then i add on some #26 yellow wax

is this the proper procedure as i heard the NXT removes the glaze. Should i apply the glaze first of after the NXT application?

Your opinion counts! If you know any other good products out there please tell me (something OTC please) Does anyone also have information the new Turtle Wax ICE product

I know meguiar's products are supposed to work together, but I'd skip the #7 in this case. I've only ever seen a great result from #7 on single stage paint and to get the best results, there's a sort of tedious way to remove it (multiple light passes, letting it skin over in between, first with cotton, then with MF), and due to the oils and such in it, I would imagine NXT's bonding to be compromised.

Add to that the general consensus that NXT has some light cleaning abilities and the step may end up being wasted anyway.

If you really want to apply the glaze, I'd wait 12-24 hours after applying the NXT and follow it up with the #26.

For what it is worth, I would use the glaze after the wash only if required to remove swirils, little scratches, or any stuff clay bar won't remove. And I substitute Turtle Wax Ultra Gloss for the polish, instead of NXT. It is about the same stuff, but easier to apply and remove and leaves a better shine -- at least on my colors. Both the Turtle and NXT do have cleaning properties, too. Then, apply the No. 26. Or a "pure" carnauba paste wax (which is really only about 37% carnauba, but contains no cleaners). I actually get a bit more depth with the paste than the No. 26, and it's not any harder to apply and buff.

Thanks,
Richard

nxt is fine by itself, 3 coats will produce great shine

nxt with #26 is fine as well.

nxt has cleaning properties so it will remove part of most of whatever it coats

zaino z8 spray over nxt will work

z8 over no. 26 will also work

The kind of multi-atep process you describe in your original post should do fine for a numbr of washings with just a spritz and wipe of detailing spray. The "full deal" as you originally describe, whould be needed from 2 to 4 times a year only, even to keep your shine in optimum condition, if your car is garaged when not in use.

Thanks,
Richard

I tried the ICE stuff, but did not like it. It was nice not to leave any white residue on the black plastic pieces. It actually made them a little more shiney. The main problem is that it seems oily and hard to remove. If the car is very clean and waxed regularly it is not too bad, but on something not showroom glossy it was a bear to get off.

Does anybody else see the contradiction here...

#3 says it has cleaning properties... and it does... which makes #1 wrong. You can not add coats with this stuff, it just doesn't work.

A lot of the Meguiars products you see on the local store shelves... is marketing, nothing more.

As a side note:
If you apply wax to the paint and it looks better... go polish the paint more, your not done yet When you apply the wax or sealent to a cars paint job, if properly polished, you shouldn't be able to tell if its been waxed or not.
