Default Buffing wax off

I bought a Griot's hook and loop 6" microfiber pad to go on my DA polisher that I read would be easier to buff wax off the car. I use insulator 45 wax which has great reviews and applies easier (more liquid than a solid) but when I took the DA wih the mf pad to it it did NOT buff it off... it seemed to just smear the wax around. I even waited a long time for it to dry (20+ minutes). I gave up after it smeared around a couple foot section of the hood. Went to a clean mf towel and it wiped right off and looked good.

Was I doing something wrong? It was a lot easier to buff off by hand this time over having used a carnauba wax in the past, but still I could save a lot more time by using the polisher to buff it off and I would probably spend a lot less time checking for "missed" areas... which is tricky on GPW

It probably needed more time to completely cure, sounds like some wet solution got onto the pad and it was being re-applied rather than removed. I tend to leave my waxes and sealants on for much longer than 20 minutes as I sometimes put it on a bit too thick by accident in some locations. I find they come off much easier the longer I leave them on the car after application.

Temp.and humidity can affect wax application and removal. Also, if you apply too heavy a coat it can take an interminable amount of time to remove. Try thin light coats, they should buff off with a MF towel easily.

^that may have been my problem. i think i applied too much in that area. i hadn't ever applied a liquid wax before, and i hadn't ever applied wax with a da polisher and that was the first area i started (truthfully, I should have started with the trunk lol but i wasn't compounding or anything and had a new pad specifically for waxing and a nice wax so i said screw it i'll start with the hood). I'll try again in the next couple weeks probably.

When you try it again, spray your pad lightly with a quick detailer and apply a penny sized diameter of your wax to the center of the pad. With your gloved hand spread the wax evenly across the pad prior to using. I think you will find it applies easier and more evenly.
