I did not like the zanio clay bar. It was my first time using one and I did find some scratches from it. It was great the first few minutes of use then it started to fall apart. Other than the few minor scratches, it did remove tar and other contaminates. The wax, on the other hand was great, easy on, easy off, great finish.

pc,

That is interesting... I did my whole car, but did not experience what you did. I wonder if maybe the plastic wrapping you got was defective. I imagine that if these bars really dry out, they would crumble during use (and also maybe scratch).

Was the bar malleable (i.e., could you fold it and stretch it)?

I use zymol HD cleanse. It seems to do the same as a clay bar but much easier.

Are you sure? I have it, but I was gonna use it after using the Mother's clay bar. If it does the same thing, whew!!! I just saved a few hours of work!!

I would think twice about that statement above. It may appear to do the same thing, but it also does something that the clay bar does not do...it removes a thin layer of your clear coat every time that you use it. That is how it works. The clay bar does not remove any paint, clear or otherwise.

I have found that claying my S2000 only takes a few minutes (15 to 20) to do the whole car, so it's no big deal. If you use the clay bar with a lubricant, it is extremely easy to use.

Good luck,
Bob

I use the Clay magic bar and then HD cleanse and then on to polish and wax. I haven't had any issues with it.

Guys,

I think Bob is right about this -- not certain though. HD Cleanse has abrasives, I think. It does a great job restoring old, weather-worn paint, but I wouldn't use it on a newer car that wasn't faded. I used it on a 10-yr old Miata and it came off with a LOT of red on the rags. The car looked great, but I think we're talking about a different kinda product.

DJ,

Wow, I sure hope everything doesn't take the clear coat off. That'd be a nightmare... The Zaino products are *not* supposed to be abrasive. You might be mistaken in your terminology... "Clear coat" is a paint finish applied on your car by the factory. Maybe you were referring to the waxes/polishes that you put on later -- yes, most cleansers remove wax, and some (not all) will remove Zaino.

The HD cleanse works just the same as a clay bar but with less worries. I dont have to worry about the clay bar scratching my car and it seems to do the same job. No yellow on my rag after two times.
