Default Clay bar

I think I bought my clay bar kit 10 years ago, long before the S. Finally got around to toying with it. It did a great job getting the contaminates out of my rear end. Think it’s the combination of a test pipe, track pads, and my a/f was all jacked before I replaced my MAP sensor. There was all kinds of stuff that had worked its way into the paint and I could t wash it off. The clay bar pulled it right out! Don’t know why I was so hesitant to use it in the past.

I wanted to focus on the vertical surfaces, they were worst. I wound up doing the whole rear.

I didn’t take a good close up before, but you can see in this pic in full sun, the paint is pretty clean. This also has a single layer of wax on it. Hand applied/buffed

Now apply a ceramic coating. I have used Avalon King for a number of years on all my cars. Easy to use. Preparation is key. Plus a shaded garage in mild temps.

I have a "clay" pad for my polisher that actually works pretty well. I have not used it on a car with bad contamination though but for what I have used it for it seems to do a good job

Will have to look that up. I use a spray bottle of exterior cleaner/"detailer" for paint lubrication using the clay bar. You don't want any wax as it needs to be removed for ceramic application.

Mine is the surface prep one from Griots.Used with detail spray. https://www.griotsgarage.com/6-inch-...hoCggsQAvD_BwE

They also have a synthetic clay thing that is a pad you use by hand but I have not tried it.

I need to do some clay bar on my paint, lights mirrors etc. Friend of the family that I bought the car from had done a spray paint job on some furniture in the garage sometime before I got the car. Unfortunately they didn't have the car cover on the car at the time, thinking they were far enough away from the vehicle. They didn't think it would float over onto the car like it did. It wasn't a major issue but I recently I got it cleaned off the windshield, windows, back window, window trim and headlights but there is still spots on the actual paint. Thankfully the top was up and the windows closed. It got on the back glass window as well. Everything came off the glass pretty easily though. But I think the clay bar would help a lot with the car's paint. They used a cream colored off white paint on the dresser, so it doesn't stand out too bad except on the black rubber trim around the windshield. The GPW paint on this car is better than most cars I have owned in recent years. Especially with it having 21,690 when I got it and now at just over 24,000 and always stored in the garage. So being in this good of condition, the little tiny dots of paint bugs me.
