Default Just Claybared for first time

Just used Mothers Clay Bay kit to do my 2003 S2000. Turned out nice. I washed with a strong dish detergent to remove wax then clay bared. Paint feels smooth and shines. (next to touch up pain chips and wax).

I wondered if the expensive Mother's Kit was worth the $20 so I googled. Turns out you can buy clay from most hobby/craft shops (even Walmart craft section) and use a spray bottle with dish soap and water to to the same job for 1/10th the price.

dont use dish soap to clay bar. its not as bad to use it as a pre wash for paint correction, but itll break down the clay. anything is better than dish soap to clay bar with...get a bottle of the cheapest quick detailer or buy a big jug of onr and dilute it for clay lube, itll last a long time.

all detailing clay (given equal "aggressiveness") is manufactured to a standard with very specific specifications, and all clay bars must meet that standard. There is no benefit in buying expensive clay that I have ever been able to find...buy on price.

Get Black Magic Detailing spray and you will have a WTF face on for the whole time. lol I had a bottle of it laying around and used it when the mother's detailing spray ran out. It felt like it was oil and it just kept makign the clar bar super clean and stopped it from getting anything off the paint. I had to throw away the clay bar and just used water for that detail. Water doesn't do as good as the lube that is made for the clay bar but its good when you run out of it or dotn have it.

Dish soap ruins a clay bar. If you don't clay a car often with that setup you will likely not notice. I detail cars as a hobby with a friend who used to use dish soap and water. By the third car the clay bar was falling a part and leaing bits and pieces all over the car. Pain in the arse. He has science stopped doing that and we have not had the issue since.

We have found the mothers kit to be the best over the counter kit and use that all the time.... At time we bought a kit was 12 bux!

I have used Mother's Clay kit a few times before, then I decided to try the Meguiars Clay Kit. And I find that Meguiars is a lot better than the Mothers one. But yet I think I will try the Bilt-Hamber Auto-Clay Soft next time around, since its highly recommended and its not expensive. http://www.bilthambe...uto-clay%20soft

also make sure you kneed the claybar every so often as well. It's real easy to mar the paint with one if you aren't careful.
