are synthetic clay bars better than non synthetic? something along the lines of the Zaino Z-18 bar? http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/mercha...oduct_Code=Z-18

or Pinnacle Ultra PolyClay http://www.properautocare.com/piulpo.html

or BLACKFIRE PolyClay II http://www.properautocare.com/blpoiiclba.html

well from what your explaining ("rust particles") it sounds liek its over the paint, and not coming fromt he metal. If this is true, and there are just specs of rust, then the mother's (or whatver brand) claybar will probly work, when i had my evo the claybar took off everything.. including what we call love bugs, and nothing can take those off!
That's exactly what it is... on the paint, not coming from underneath the paint.
I will give the clay a try, and see if it works.

There is no "synthetic" vs "natural" clay. There are various formulations of the clay that affects its plasticity, it's cutting power (amount of abrasives), its stickyness, etc but it all comes from the same place in Japan.

The Clay Magic stuff is fine for semi-annual use. For frequent use or very gentle cleaning, the Sonus Ultra Fine clay is great.

If you've got a LOT of rust specks a decontamination wash is probably the best first step. But it sounds like yours is limited and assuming it's the surface of the paint, clay is the answer.

The bars I listed claim to be 100% man-made polymers

Griot's Garage has the best clay (and best products in my opinion) but be ready to break the bank!

FYI, I have GPW also, had the same problem as you, and clay bars did work for me.

I think it's similar to rail dusts, except I have no idea what's the source of mine, since my car is parked no where near the railway...

Thanks for all the advise guys. This is why I love s2ki!
Looks like I'll be picking up some Mothers this weekend and seeing if that does the trick.

In my search for an answer to my questions, I went through numerous threads and found nothing. I did however find a few people that had the same concerns as I did. I really hope they stumble upon this thread and have their questions resolved as I have
