Cleaning Stainless Steel Header?
I picked up a used Comptech and its discolored as usual with stainless. I tried mother metal polish and it can get a lot of it off, but the bronzed blotches remain. I tried a light scotch pad and still nothing. I hear bikers using something called Yoshimura Stain Magic, but I cant find anyone who carries it. I know its just going to discolor again, but I might as well do what I can before I put it on.

If you want to remove all of the yellow/gold color off of it, then you must use a product like Lime Away. I'd highly recommend doing this off of the car though, as that stuff will eat through everything. Get yourself a bucket and some rubber gloves. Take a brush or sponge with the Lime Away and wipe it on the stainless pipe. Like magic, you will see the discoloring go away! After that I usually clean them off, and then use scotch brite (if it's a brushed finish) to detail it out.
I've been working in the motorcycle business for 20+ years now, and this method was taught to me by the owner of a high performance exhaust manufacturer. When he first told me about it I thought he was crazy, but after I tried it, I was a believer and always had the nicest looking stainless pipes out there.
Good luck.
