Default Cleaning wheels

It was time to clean up and paint the calipers on my daily driver, Nissan Rogue. Since I had to take the wheels off, I cleaned them up. As you can see, it was needed.

I used:
Sonax to clean the wheels
Purple Power to clean the tires
Armor All wheel wax
Meguiars tire foam and shine for the last bit of cleaning on the tires.

Here is a before pic. 21,000 miles of road crap build up.

Here is the after shot - inside of wheel waxed and tire shine applied.

I do this to the wheels on the S when I swap to summer rubber, but never done the same to the DD.

Cleaning the insides of wheels is a lost art. I manage to stick a wheel cleaner "baton" through the spokes of my wheels to get to most of the insides of my wheels, though I imagine I'll take them off one day and give them a good cleaning. Also, it's kind of funny how you tire glossed the inside of the tire, even though it'll never see the light of day while on the car.

Maybe dressing the inside of the tire still helps prevent it from prematurely drying and cracking...?

It will wear off the tread in well under a mile.

Is there such a thing as a TRUE spray on hose off wheel cleaner that you can use weekly that doesn't require
any scrubbing or brushing to get them totally clean? Any product I've ever tried, after using it, I run my
finger across the surface and still get black on it.

Personally if you have to scrub and/or brush to get them totally clean, I'll just keep using the soap and
water in my rinse bucket that's left after washing the car with a different mitt.

Give meguiars wheel brightener a try...you have to dilute it though, super strong stuff. Absolute strongest wheel cleaner I've ever used. 9 out of 10 times I never had to scrub on my stock wheels. Super cheap as well- can buy a gallon for under $18 most places. Would rate it above Sonax (which I use as well) but it's not safe for all wheel types. Definitely smells better than Sonax...
