no, you can do 1500 but your buffing time is gonna increase because the scratches a TINY bit deeper.
a 2000 grit will be a LOT smoother and easier to buff out, if you can get you some 3000 grit, its a little bit of overkill but it comes out REALLY nice

OK. Did the 2000 grit wet-sand, followed that w/ PlastiX using a foam pad and my PorterCable at 3000 rpms. Still have some minor swirls. Next step is???????
More speed and more PlastiX?
Novus 2?

what kind of foam pad did you use? i usually use the plastx last as a protectant.
do you have any other compounds u can use that have a heavier cut? or a foam pad that is more coarse? ull need to really impact the plastic to get rid of the swirls.

Plastix as a protectant? Isn't it marketed as a scratch remover and not a protectant?
Wouldn't I need a lighter cut to minimize the swirls? I've already removed all the bad stuff and am just looking to remove the remaining swirl and slight haze. The lights are nice and smooth but under certain light the swirls / haze is noticeable.
Thanks for the prompt reply.

plastx is a cleaner/polish. all that plastx is going to do is fill VERY minor surface scratches. those light swirls need a heavier cut otherwhise the plastx would have taken them out.
if you dont have any other pads or any other compounds, try using it again but at a higher speed. my other suggestion is to use a heaver cut compound then go back again with the plastx. plastx is not designed to take out the 2000 grit scratches .
im not sure which pad the white one is, hopefully someone can chime in with some details on that.

I feel better now, knowing that the Plastix is not expected to clean up the 2000 grit work.
I do have NOVUS 1 2 and 3. May be I should try the 3 to remove the 2000 grit work.
Thoughts?

Explain the term pad to me, pad seems so vague.
I'm serious and thanks for all of the help thus far.
