what will happened if u use a wrong product for our top ? I mean like instead of vinyl we use the cloth version ? what will do to the top ? and is there any way we can tell what kind of top is ? I mean my friend got a 99 SL 500 and i am not sure if his top is vinyl or cloth version so i dunno if he will be safe to use mine 303 for his top

There used to be a link to a convertible top guide on one of the car care web-stores. It listed the make/model/year and the type of top, but I can't find it.

Anyway, I would say the big thing is that you're not going to effectively protect a top by using the wrong product. Vinyl and canvas have very different protection needs.
