Cyclo Polisher - the right tool for a beginner?
Hello all,
my S2000 is now five years old am I am only washing by hand (using products from LiquidGlass). The shine is still ok but I wanted to start with polishing to get some more.
As Porter Cable is no option for Europe (110V only), I found out that Cyclo Polishers are available in Europe.
My questions are:

My questions are:
- Is the Cyclo Model 5 the right tool for a real beginner?
- What are the pros and cons compared to a portercable (1 vs 2 heads)?

The cyclo is an orbital machine just like the PC. It has a more polishing power than the PC but that can all be controlled by the product and pad you use. I just got one and they really work well. I'll be keeping my pc for areas i may not be able to get to with the cyclo though.

I have a very good offer for the Cyclo 5 from a Belgium distributor and will get the Cyclo for the same price as the DEWALT.
I believe the DEWALT is an orbital sander and the Cyclo is designed for detailing purposes.
Rob, are you happy with the DEWALT? What are the pros and cons?
Hello all,
I got a good price from the Belgium distributor and finally ordered the Cyclo. The first test last weekend on an Audi A3 (with horrible squirls as my mother tried to remove some tree sap with steel-wool
) was very good (before attacking my S2000), but I learned from one of Ubetit's postings, that the EDGE pads would be a good improvement for the Cyclo. Has someone used this configuration already?
Overall, I am very happy with the Cyclo. I will post some pictures as soon as I have time for my Honda.
Cheers

Please show us some pics of the Audi A3 whilst we wait for the S pics??
the A3 was only a test and my first try - so don't expect too much.
I used the Cyclo 5CE with Autoglym Super Resin Polish and Extra Gloss Protection with the green and white Cyclo pad on the hood and the Paint Restorer with the yellow cutting pad on the fender of the A3.
The first picture shows the 'test scenario':
Clayed hood after two treatments with the green pad on the left side.
After
And now two pictures from the hood:
Before
After: There are still some minor swirls - but I only used the very gentle Resin Polish and the green pad.
As a second exercise I tried to remove the steel-wool attack on the left fender. You can see the area left besides the flash light.
I tried with the green pad and the gentle polish first and the shine was back - but deeper scratches still visible. I decided to change to the yellow cutting pad and the paint renovator. It was good that I was very careful with this combination. I was only 20 seconds on my test area and this was good. The clear coat was a little bit dull after the yellow pad but I then changed back to the green pad and the result was amazing.
No swirls, no scratches.

My camera was not able to zoom correctly because of the shine. The finish is really perfect. Sorry for the bad picture.
I made another picture outside the test area on the same fender for comparison.
Sorry for the bad pictures - I will do better when I work with my S2000. Nevertheless I am very happy with the first results as a polisher.
Nick
p.s. I am just wondering how often I can do this scratch/swirl removal before I am through the clear coat.

. And in Europe not so popular. I got a good price for a Cyclo in Europe and will go for it.
