Default Detailing by hand

Still debating to use the PC for the first time on my car?

Was wondering what process is best for removing swirls and getting an ultimate shine by hand?

Also, best product for cleaning wheel wells?

Im at work again so I appologize for not using the search. Takes way to long for me.

thanks again to those with advice.

you're not gonna be able to remove many swirls by hand, if any. a porter cable is essentially dummy proof and as long as you start with the least abrasive pad/polish/compound possible and move your way up as needed, the safer you'll be.

In January 2009 Meguiars will be releasing three new products in their consumer line that may be of help to you: SwirlX, ScratchX 2.0, and Ultimate Compound. They are based on Meguiars' new micro-abrasive technology and should make hand polishing a bit easier and more effective. But purchasing a dual-action polisher would still be the way to go. If I can learn to use a d/a polisher, anyone can!

I appreciate the assistance guys. Do you think it would be safe for me to use a PC on my car for my first time? I REALLY dont want to mess up the paint.

I think there's no way you can mess up your paint with a porter cable assuming you use the right products. Go ahead and try it. If your really worried go to a junkyard and buy a black hood or door for like 20 bucks to practice on.

The PC is almost perfectly safe unless you somehow manage to run the backingplate against the paint or soemthing.

The biggest thing to be careful of is to not let it travel into any plastic/rubber trim.

Other then that, you'll be fine. If anything, you will do too little to the paint rather than too much.
