Default DISPLAY PLASTIC WINDOW DAMAGE? HELP ME PLEASE :(

hello everyone, i TRIED doing a search for this, and i couldn't find anything.
so my girlfriend tried doing me a favor by cleaning the dash of the car up, she used the typical stuff, but accidentally sprayed it on the clear plastic piece that covers the display itself.
behind the steering wheel, where you see the revs/MPH/gas etc... the clear cover in front of it

now its all dried up on there and its full of white spots. i tried to clean with window cleaner, claying it, and just water on a rag but NOTHING WORKS!
this sucks, its a brand new car and now all crappy looking.
if anyone can please tell me how to fix this i'd be happy as a kid in a candy store!
if i need to post pictures please advise, and i'll either post or email them to anyone willing to help!

please chime in with any clues!
thanks all!

(also, every time i do a search it ALWAYS pulls me back to YEAR 2001 posts... i can never find any new posts, if anyone knows what im doing wrong it'd be appreciated as well!)

Do you know what she sprayed? Is it etched or is it a stain? I have some plastic polish called NOVUS for scratches (http://www.amazon.com/NOVUS-7136-Pla...pr_product_top) - I haven't tried it on the S so I don't know if the plastic is compatible, but that's why I would try. However if it's actually etched in I'm not sure if it will work or might make it a lot worse =/

im pretty sure it was a meguiar's product.. for vinyl dashes etc..
"ultimate detailer"
http://www.google.com/imgres?q=megui...0&tx=90&ty=128
that!!!
and its just spotted dry..

i'll give your product (or similar) a try! but ive tried a few chemicals with no luck.
nothing's etched because she used a MF cloth, and the stuff isn't too strong, but crap!

Do you park your car outside? If the interior is hot, trying to clean off the "spots" will probably not work when it's hot. Try cleaning it in the early AM or late at night. I would try to to use a very light cutting polish safe for plastics or possibly try to use some Goo Gone.

You can try giving Meguiar's a call - they are very responsive - do you have a picture of the staining?

I've had that happen on other cars of mine, try a plastic polish. I know exactly what you mean, it almost looks etched and I don't know why that happens. It has happened to me when using vinyl cleaner that sprays onto clear plastic and dries.

Try some non-flourodated toothpaste/powder or any slighty abrasive water based polish. Talcum powder and a damp rag may work. Avoid all petrolium based polish's which could desolve plastic and make the display even harder to read. Last resort- try the very finest of sandpaper and follow up with a polish.

No, never.
Not on the soft clear plastic that is the dash display.
You don't want to use anything abrasive.

Use a clean, soft microfiber towel and some Plexus or Meguiar's #17 plastic cleaner.
