Try skipping the Sanding part if your headlights are not that bad.
What i would like to recommend is try using the gray rubber thingy and water spray bottle. then use the polish foam and solution, see if it works, if not then follow the instructions from the KIT.

The "gray rubber thingy" is a trizact 3000 grit pad. It's pretty much like a sponge in terms of softness. Make sure to get a lot of water on the light when using it. Dry it, then hit it with the Orange buffing pad and the 3M rubbing compound they give you.

If that doesn't work, the order goes: 500 grit (the orangish brown looking sand paper), 800 grit (the white and purple sand paper), trizact 3000 grit (gray pad) with water, and then the orange buffing pad with rubbing compound. That's what the kit tells you. Make sure you spend a lot of time on the first two steps. If not, it won't turn out too well. Good luck! I did a write up on this somewhere with pics as well. Someone else did too. This is a great kit!
