Default EDGE Pads

Newbie here looking to purchase some edge pads. Wondering if anyone has an opinion on the flat style pads vs the flat ones. Is one type better for polish, and one better for more aggressive work like swirl removal?

Any comments would be appreciated.

hmmm... for the pc i thought that there was only one choice???

you have my fav pads, i can tell you that- and i can also tell you to be sure to get the pads for the pc and not for the rotary.

polish = swirl removal. swirl removal is the least aggressive of polishes.
last stage products include waxes and synthetics (several types of synthetics)- and then several brands of each.

just remembered what you are talking about-
wave vs. flat
but i have not tried the waves...
i love the flats, so lets see if someone out there can comment on the waves

Someone said the waves were for a rotary machine, the flats for random orbit. I have the flat ones, they are delicious!

Here is a link to the products so everyone can see what I am asking about.

I will probably buy individual pads, since I do not need any aggressive pads at this point.

I have both the wave and the flat pads. I bought the wave pads to use with a rotary (which I have yet to buy). I did try the wave pads once with my PC. I didn't like them as much as the flat pads. I just didn't like the feel of it. I can't remember exactly what it was that I didn't like though.

My personal experience with any sort of waffle/wave/contour pad always leaves me disappointed. Stick with flat. In fact i had three old contoured 7.5 inch pads for my PC and i just put them on my rotary and took my cheese grater to them to flatten them.... MUCH BETTER.

Stick with flat pads on random orbital machines, and wavy/contoured pads on the rotary. The reason? The PC needs the flat pad surface to generate enough heat to correct defects in the paint. Rotary's, on the other hand, often generate TOO much heat on the paint surface, and so wavy/contoured pads are designed to cut down on the amount of heat and also help prevent polishes from slinging everywhere
