Default Engine Bay Cleaning

with a cool engine.

1. Spray FOAMY GUNK ENGINE BRITE all over the engine. Allow to sit for 15 minutes.
2. Rinse the engine completely.
3. Spray entire engine with FOAMY ARMOR ALL (IMPORTANT! it has to be the FOAMY kind, or you can catch your engine compartment on fire).
4. Start the car and close the hood for 20 (with engine running).
5. Open the hood and smile.gif

I didn't think it would work either but my engine bay looks new now. It makes the valve cover nice and clean with the deep rich red. I plan on doing this twice a year.

The above instructions were from Kwando from a different post. I've read a lot of how people say you can spray the entire engine bay with water.

My question is, what should you not spray? I'm going to try the above method but am not sure what I can spray and what I should not spray. Does anyone know of any posts that shows a pic of the engine bay with the spray foam on? Can you just spray the entire engine? Battery and all? Obviously the air filter top will be on.

Thanks.

IME Engine Brite is complete overkill for 99% of engine bays. Get some Purple Power of check Home Depot for some Zep All Purpose Cleaner.

What?!?!? Don't think this is true.

Ahaha mickeyC representing as the first post on this xD.
That's a pretty funny post. Hmm my advice would be to use an all purpose cleaner of some sort, or a degreaser? And to finish it up I use CD2 engine detailer I found at autozone. There are about 2 great threads on this forum about engine bay detailing so try searching for them and they will have great advice, you might also look on autopia or detailingbliss I believe. Good luck and the engine bay is my favorite part of the car to clean because everyone neglects it so horribly, that and door jambs.
I myself am only paranoid of the battery, try to avoid spraying it directly, but that's just me.
edit: heres one just a little down the page that is decent https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=278999
That's kind of gross IMO, he sprayed too much CD2.
