I would also post this question in the forum of your local owner's club if you haven't already. This will increase your chances of getting a good answer.

DIY. You need some degreaser, a hose and a can of CD2 engine detailer (or a can of Armor All foaming tire shine)

Nice engine pics! Ya use the degreaser if you have a pressure washer or air compressor. I used to clean the engines with the degreaser under pressure worked great used a scrub brush for the hard to reach areas and then spray some sparkle shine, armor all etc. so detail it. Works great!

Just a warning: don't wash engine while the engine is hot. The cold water will cause the metal parts to cool down too quickly and possibly warp or crack them.

then is it bad if you had a vented hood and it rains and water gets onto the engine? cause on s2000 talk ive read that vented hood and rain will cause no problem

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but most of the vented hoods have water channels to push the water away from the engine... hence no issues.

I'm sure a small amount of H2O hits the engine, but not a large quantity or directly at it.

Veilside hood does not have "water channels." But, I've never had any problems.

Ever drive though a puddle in the rain

The engine will be fine.
