Experience with Quick Detailing
The autotopia web site describes a method of washing the car that it calls quick detailing.

It basically states that the car owner should cleaned with a miracle towel then polished using a quick detailer product like Meguires.
I was wondering if anyone actually does this on a regular basis and what your experience with this technique has been, both good and bad.
Thanks

It seems to me that wiping a dry finish, even with a damp cloth risks putting in micro-scratches so I avoid anything more than a light touch of a duster on the dry finish. I would think the car should at least be rinsed off first if it has any dirt on it.
I have used Meguiar's Quik Detailer for quite a while, but only when the car is just dusty and perhaps has water spots or such, not when the car is appreciably dirty. I also use a California Duster on it first, to suck up most of the dust before wiping it down. I don't believe that it has cause any problems on my red. I recently switched to Zaino, and so I'm now using Z6 instead of the Meguiar's. BTW, as far as the Zaino stuff goes, with 1 coat of Z5 and 2 coats of Z2, I am delighted with the results.
I only use quick detailer for removing bird droppings from the paint. I keep a bottle of this and a towel in my trunk so I'm always ready. I would avoid using quick detailer as a substitute for regular washing. I also keep some Amazing Roll-Off (in a smaller bottle) in my trunk in case a bird decides to go on my top.
