So I had the wheels powder coated black in November, painted the calipers black and tinted the windows last month, and today was the first time I have had a chance to get some fresh pictures. So I cleaned her up a bit and headed to the park. I was also asked to share my technic awhile back as well. So here goes.
1. Wash with Dawn and warm water to strip all old wax. (X2 or 3)
2. Claybar entire car. I usually do bumper, hood and fenders twice.
3. Meguiars 3 stage cleaner, polish and wax.
I use Meguiars Gold Class for waxing.
I usually take the whole weekend to do it, and use 3-5 coats of wax. With updates to rough spots throughout the year. Every Spring I strip and wax all over again. It's almost that time again this year. This has been my daily driver, so it keeps a pretty good shine throughout the year, plus I wash her every weekend normally. Downside is that the roads are murder here in Texas. Hard to keep paint in great shape on a daily driver with rocks, trucks and SUV's everywhere.
For weekly washing I use Meguiars Gold Class car wash with a lambs wool mit. Blow dry with air compressor and touch up with Meguiars Mist and Wipe and a soft cotton towel for final shine.
I also have a water softner in my home that feeds the hose I use to wash my car. It makes quite a difference.
Wheels, I use the Meguiars tire gel. It lasts for at least a week, which is nice. But this stuff can build up if you're not careful. I use it lightly, just enough to make the tire shine.
Here are the pictures. And it's been about 8-9 months since the last time I put any wax on the car. This is just washing and drying.
get a lip, and a drop. I can notice the cleanliness on it but when a more detailed picture the shine really comes out. Nice job. looks good with the hardtop.
Damn good job man. That finish looks awesome. I'll try your method. The a-holes at the dealership wrecked the finish on my car when they did their so-called "detail."
ya, i need to lower the car, eventually. I'm trying to get out of debt before I start sinking any serious cash into the car.
I have a long to do list for the car. But the engine/turbo build is first. Which is already consuming funds.
