Default Going back to Zaino...

Well, I figured that maybe there was some credence to MikeyC's anti-Zaino campaign and tried going all carnauba this season so far. While much easier as far as the initial application was concerned, I was not terribly impressed.

First, the carnauba only car stayed great looking for only a few days at best and then needed booster wax at a minimum to satisfy me. Second, dust was a major problem on my berlina. Third, even though it looked damned good with the Souveran wax, it was never up to the standards I came accustomed to having used Zaino for years.

So, I checked with Sal Zaino to be sure the Z2 and Z5 I still had was not out of date, and then I ordered some ZFX, Z6 and Z7. Gonna go through the whole process this weekend if the weather cooperates.

Sorry MikeyC

That's OK Jeff. Carnauba is not for everyone. I'm just happy I was able to help get you excited about caring for your car.

Yes, I am very excited about detailing now. More so than ever. I think that the major issue with just carnauba for me is that I don't have a garage and I daily drive but I want the garage queen cleanliness. The durability of carnuaba just doesn't hold up to the synthetics under these conditions. I may try sandwiching of some sort, but I haven't decided yet.

another choice-
carnauba over synthetics provide an incredible finish, imo...
best of both worlds!!

(sandwiching, as you mentioned)

Im a noob.... But I love the Zaino/P21s combo..... especially in AZ.... since my garage is currently full of construction mats while I remodel... I can use Zaino on days When I dont have some good cloud cover or shade....

But I really like the days I can slap a coat of carnuba over my zaino....

I'm glad to hear that Jeff. TBH, I have noticed that the look of a Pinnacle wax fades pretty quickly. I have a tub of Pinnacle Souveran and the look you get after initial application only lasts a week at most. I've started to use a QD after washing each week to maintain a "just waxed" look even though I'm not using Pinnacle on my car.

Personally, I've just never cared for the look of Zaino. It's not a bad product. I only campaign against it's use because of the zainy zealotry of many Zaino users on the detailing forums. Plus, I'm rather convinced Sal Zaino pays (or compensates in some other way) some people who constantly post about Zaino on the detailing forums.
