Figured as much...otherwise you'd be going through a whole bottle of dawn per car. I meant relative to regular QD or even a rinseless wash.

My girlfriend tried to "help out" when some gasoline spilled onto my Acura TL-S by cleaning it with a paper towel...She was mad at me for the rest of the drive.

Oh yeah. Also, I was at a car show last fall and some teenager brought his WRX. He was prepping it for the show by wiping it down with paper towels.

Speaking of helping out... last winter, I came out of my house after a good snow and found a neighbor's 4 year old daughter cleaning the snow off my car with a rake... you read correctly (a wooden rake)... the ones people use to rake leaves. I was horrified, but I wanted to get rid of the girl so I gave her a $10 and told her to never do that again =p. I didn't want to just yell at her. Luckily no damage on the car, but still scary sight to walk out to.

Sorry for raising back a thread that's been dead for a year now but I have a few questions about this "DAWN" issue:

1. I just purchase the "ultimate protection show car kit" from zaino and they still recommend that one use DAWN soap to strip a car of wax before proceeding with their products. From the extensive reading that i've done on these forums I see that people are still split on the benefits of using dawn. Simple question, is DAWN safe to use on a vehicle? FYI, I currently have 3 layers of P21S on my S that I'll need removed.

2. I side with MikeyC's earlier comment that one should always begin with the least invasive method. This is the very reason I DON'T want to use dawn on my car. Which brings me to my second question: what method should I use to strip the three coats of P21S that're on my S?

A couple of things. Carnauba doesn't layer so you can't really have three coats. Second when was the last time you waxed? Third, you are worried about using Dawn one time? Fourth, paint cleaners and polishes will remove wax but they are MORE invasive than just using a grease remover like Dawn.
